Film noir is a genre of film that that was mainly used in the forties and fifties and a uses high contrast black and white effect to create a mysterious narrative e.g. a crime or detective film. I really liked the idea of having high contrast black and white imagery to convey a crime because it can leave unanswered questions and create a mystery for the viewer. The noir genre is best known for its unique lighting style, which could be used to give clues to the viewers or to create a mysterious atmosphere with unanswered problems. This genre creates narrative through its visual style, not dialogue and performance.
