Jenny Lewis is a photographer who works around London to create unique projects that show specific groups of people. For example the project that I am inspired by is 'One Day Young', which shows newly born babies with their mothers. I feel like this project is great because it shows the initial connections that the babies have with their mothers. Also the series creates a realistic image/atmosphere of what the mothers and babies feelings are towards each other. This message can be created through the models facial expressions, body actions and maybe could also be identified through their inner soul.
Jenny's work has inspired me to consider photographing a group of people for this project because she captures each of them in a unique way that makes them all different to eachother but still part of the same group e.g. young mothers. I feel that when I capture the amateur dramatics a unique message will be created about how a person looks different in character and then how they look when they are themselves.
Jenny was recently questioned about her 'One Day Young' Project, where she was asked about where she shoots this photoshoot. She stated:
“It was them curating their own identity. I could have done the series in hospitals [but] in your own home you become yourself again. It’s also a comment on motherhood: you’re not losing your identity, you’re still in control.”

I like it how Jenny has captured this series in a home environment because it works really well and shows how the mothers are settling in with their new borns. Also you can tell that they feel more comfortable in their home because its recognisable and identifiable to the mothers.
Jenny took part in another interview for the project, where she was asked:
How did the One Day Young project come about?
"Having had two great births myself I felt I had a duty to share this as a birth option. I wanted to show the transition into motherhood as something empowering not something to be feared. The series has evolved from this starting point to a collection of strong empowered women, a different view of beauty to the retouched perfection we are all accustomed to."

I feel like the way Jenny talks about her own experiences with birth creates a realistic atmosphere and shows that she vividly relates to her project.
