Anna Fox is a Documentary photography, who also incorporates the portraiture approach in some of her work. Anna has also worked with photographic advertisement for holiday resorts like Butlin's, where she would stage scenes to create a realistic environment. She has inspired me with a variety of her projects becuase of the way some of her photographs are staged and seem to be perfoming in the environment. This is the approach that I am going to use in order to capture my portraits becuase my models will be perfoming towards the camera. These images have made me think about setting and background becuase it gives clues about what the models are doing and where they are from. For example I have considered using a theatre stage or a red theatre curtain to create the idea of performance. I also like how Anna has thought about the use of colour and matched certain colours to each other, which creates a vivid focal point for viewers to concentrate on.
Anna Fox was interviewed about her current work and asked a variety of questions to do with her photography skills and approaches.
As an artist what are you searching for?
"I am interested in things that are often hidden or neglected, or considered unworthy of being photographed. I am also interested in living up things that have been photographed. As a story teller I am interested in both public and private issues and by showing aspects of both in my work it seems that I am looking both inward and outward – this is quite an interesting thing to do."
