Artist Research- Tori Ferenc

Tori Ferenc is a Polish Photographer who lives and now works in London. Tori specialises in photographing portraits of groups of people. She has a variety of projects that have inspired me to think properly about what group I am going to consider photographing e.g. the 'Advanced Dancers' project. I feel that this project is beautifully captured becuase it show elderly dancers in a gently/soft way that might not be shown in reality. This is the main project that has inspired me to capture a performance group becuase I feel that these types of groups work well within photography to show off their abilities.

Other projects of Tori's influenced some of my ideas. For example the project 'Postcards from home' has inspired me becuase of how realistic the atmosphere created is, which creates the idea of emotion. This project gave me the idea about showing emotion and how different viewers interpret it from the same image.

Tori was interviewed about her projects and was asked:

Are you trying to make something for yourself or convey an idea to someone else?

"I am not sure. I photograph what I see and I photograph what I am. I don’t think there is an idea I am trying to convey, I just take photos of things and people that make me stop and think."
