Simon Roberts is a British photographer, who travelled around England to capture these scenes of British environments. These landscape photographs are really interesting because of the way they vividly relate to the British culture and creates a clear message to the viewer about these landscapes. My idea of capturing a amateur dramatics class links strongly to Simon Roberts project because its a very English activity that many people consider doing, which helps with their theatric skills. I feel that photographing this group will be intriguing because I will be able to see what they are like in character as well as in person. Having two images comparing each of them, will show them in different lights and might even covey two completely different people.

In Simon Robert's project I like the way that he photographs the scenes in action and realistically shows what was happening, where it was and when it happened. I think that this creates a truthful image of the English scenery.

Simon was interviewed and asked a serious of questions about his 'We English' project.

What makes a landscape specifically English for you?

"We English is not simply about landscape, it is about the place of the English within it. While I didn’t set out to produce a very pastoral set of photographs the work became that through a combination of my editing process but also the places where leisure often happened. Even in the center of towns and cities, I found that people were often drawn to the green spaces, where there’s a definite sense of “going out into nature,” a sense that being in nature."
