Intentions/Aims: For this next photoshoot I intend to continue photographing older B&B's because this is what I want to document and show the rarity that is slowing disappearing. I aim to continue developing my camera techniques that I believe can be used to help show the theme of Englishness e.g. depth of field. So far throughout my shoots I have been using natural light which I feel is working perfectly to create the delicate atmosphere of the older B&B. This means that I am going to still use natural light for this shoot but I am going to experiment more with the Nikon Speedlight for portraits of the owners.
Technical details/equipment: The technical aspects that I will consider exploring for this shoot include camera techniques and lighting. The camera techniques that I will use are high and low depth of field because these work perfectly to help convey the theme of Englishness, by highlighting certain qualities of the B&B. I will also be trying out the the Nikon speedlight, which will be used to focus on the portraits of the owners. This lighting I feel will strongly help with the portraits because the natural light used in some of my portraits can come across slightly dark. If I think that the natural light is strong enough when taking portraits I will try this technique.
Artist influences: The main artist influence for this shoot I feel is Nickie Jackerson. She will influence this shoot through the striking natural light she uses to highlight important qualities of the church. I will mainly be using natural light to document the B&B because I want to show a truthful represesntion of that place. By using the natural light I want to create a soft, subtle atmosphere because I feel that older B&B's are a delicate aspect of England that should be highlighted before they die out. For this shoot I will also be looking at Martin Parr becuase of the way he captures objects to reflect britishness. To help reflect the theme of Englishness in my project I will be specifically looking at certain objects that I think reflect this theme and link vividly to British culture.
Where/When: I have been fully researching into other older B&B's that I can capture and show the theme of Englishness. I thought of looking into B&B's in the New Forest because there might be some history to the building and owners. So I found a B&B in 'Cadnam, Lyndhurst' that I thought would be perfect and could represent English identity. 'TWIN OAKS B&B'
